Blurber Blabber is structured with two kinds of reviews: (1) a blurb review that is short, and (2) a blabber review that is longer and more detailed. I always struggled with finding the right reviews at the right time. When I am deciding whether to buy a book I want a review that is short and covers the key facts. And after I read a book, I like to read a more in-depth review. And so I created Blurber Blabber with the two part review! The blurb review is before the jump and the blabber review is after the jump. I hope that you enjoy this format and find it useful!
2. What is your rating system?
My rating system consists of the following levels:
- Buy it now!
- Buy it used or on sale
- Put it on your wishlist
- Borrow it from the library
- Stays on the shelf
I wanted a rating system that relates to how I would evaluate a book purchase. I've had many great books that I bought on sale or at the library and likewise I've had some great, but not fantastic, books I've bought right away partly because I wanted the hot books on the scene to read right away. So it really depends on the situation and varying factors.
This is also why I added the poll at the end of each post. I'm curious to see what others think and how opinions may or may not change over time.
3. How do you choose what books to review?
For now, it's really based off of the books I've bought and/or read myself. I have some children's books that I grew up with and will always love, and I have others that I'm discovering for the first time as I hunt for good reads for my niece and nephew as they grow from babies to toddlers and from toddlers to young kids. I do a lot of digging and check out many recommendations. But I'm always open for suggestions if you have any!
